Holiday Stress

What stresses you out when you go on holiday? The accommodation? The flight? Apparently, we are all tearing our hair out about the smaller things such as, car hire, visas, car parking… you get the picture. This is according to Galileo the global travel distribution system company.

Not surprisingly with the increase in DIY holidays – booking your accommodation and flights separately – the most stressful single item to emerge from the research was Transfers.

Galileo chief operating officer David Hughes said: “Transfers emerged as the single biggest thing holidaymakers wanted organised for them with 75% of people saying they were interested in booking them.”

All of these are available to book when you make reservations with your travel agent. However, more often than not the travel agent fails to mention them. From my experience, the extra paperwork these ancillary sales create isn’t worth the few pounds commission they – the Travel Agent is likely to make, when compared to a hotel, flight or package holiday.

In addition to the above we mustn’t forget to organise the dogs kennels, someone has to feed the cat, who will water the plants in the garden?

Take my advice and make sure you prebook your resort transfer. Whether you book it with you travel agent or you look on the net at the money companies that specialise in just offering transfers to and from holiday resorts and the airport. That way you can get off the plane, get you bags and jump straight in a cab, without having to worry if you are overpaying – that’s if you don’t get stuck standing at the taxi rank with the other people who haven’t pre booked.
